Day 2 of the Wimpy 24-hr Pillowcase Sewathon is now over.
Day 1 resulted in 52 pillowcases, Day 2 produced 53 for a grand total of 105!!  Not only did we make pillowcases, we made new friendships, laughed, munched, enjoying that special fellowship that quilters share when they get together to sew.  Many thanks to Judie, Mary, Pauline, Cherie, Susan, Elaine, Judy, Joy, Helen, Amalia and Judi for all your hard work.

I've been rolling 'burritos' for 6 hrs yesterday and will be for 7 hrs today.  It's hard to keep up with everyone.  Where's the Tylenol?  Haha  Love it!

The Pillowcase Sewathon is off to a great start.  52 pillowcases were created on Day 1.

Day 2 begins at 8 am today.    More pics to come.

Friday 19 September 2014

A few of our 'burrito' busters hard at work.

We are busy sewing 'burritos' - the rolled hem pillowcase.  Pics to come.
Gearing up for the 3:00 pm start to the Wimpy 24-hr Pillowcase Sewathon.  Fabrics, munchies, chocolate - ready to go!

Wednesday 3 September 2014

You are invited to join us for a Wimpy 24-Hour Pillowcase Sewathon on Friday, September 19th, from 3pm to midnight, and resuming on Saturday, September 20th, from 8am to 3pm.  Seeing as not many can sew for 24 hours straight, yours truly included, we decided to hold a ‘wimpy’ sewathon.

All pillowcases will count towards the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge and will be donated to local charity organizations, e.g. Merrymount Centre, Children’s Aid Society, Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario, LHSC, etc.

Don’t know how to sew a pillowcase?  We will show you how.  Those who are experienced at making pillowcases can really make a difference during this event.

You will need to bring your sewing machine (a couple of machines are available at the shop).  All fabrics and threads will be supplied.

Coffee, tea, bottled water, and munchies will be provided throughout the Sewathon.  For those staying on through lunch and dinner hours, we’ll be ordering pizza and/or Swiss Chalet, or you can bring your own.  Of course, Porcino’s Restaurant at the end of our plaza provides take-out.  So as you can see, we have options re sustenance.  Then there are the always-present chocolate perks.

All participants who bring in a canned good for the Food Bank, will receive 15% off any purchases made during the Sewathon.

A $50.00 gift certificate will be awarded to the participant who makes the most pillowcases at the event.

Let’s make a difference in someone’s life and put a smile on their face, let them know someone cares.   Join us for the Wimpy 24-Hour Pillowcase Sewathon.  You can stay an hour, two, three, or throughout – your choice.  Register now – (519) 518-0110.

We are the only registered Canadian shop participating in this event.  For a list of all shops, click the link below:
